Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Starting in early 2008, our practice committed to computerizing all of our medical records. This has required a substantial investment in computer equipment and staff time and training. We are still in the midst of this process, so please forgive us for the occasional situations where things seem slow or disorganized. And yes, sometimes the computer goes down. In particular, we really do not like it when the power fails, as happened twice during March, 2008.
Here are some features of our high-tech electronic records set-up:
- All of our ultrasound images are now saved directly to disc.
- All ultrasound reports are generated using computer software,
giving us the ability to produce growth charts of each fetus. - All incoming reports such as operative reports, letters from other doctors,
lab and X-Ray results and more will be scanned directly into the system. - Our EMR is Internet-based allowing us to access the electronic chart
from any Internet-connected computer (with extremely secure password protected user access). - Soon, prescriptions will be able to be sent directly to your pharmacy from the EMR using secure e-prescribing
